1 Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PlateCheck NYC ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2 Description of the App

PlateCheck NYC allows users to look up the active registration status of For-Hire Vehicles (FHV) licensed by the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (NYC TLC) using publicly available data from NYC Open Data.

The App also allows users to save vehicles to a local fleet list and receive local notifications about upcoming permit expirations.

3 Disclaimer — Not an Official Government Service

All vehicle data is sourced from the NYC Open Data public dataset, updated by the City of New York on a daily basis. We do not create, modify, or guarantee the accuracy of this data.

4 Accuracy of Information

The vehicle status information displayed by the App:

• Is sourced from a public government dataset updated approximately once per day
• May not reflect real-time changes to a vehicle's license status
• Should not be used as the sole basis for legal, compliance, or business decisions
• May contain errors, omissions, or delays introduced by the source dataset

5 License to Use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on your Apple device for personal or business purposes, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Use the App to harass, stalk, or unlawfully investigate any individual or entity

6 Subscriptions and Payments

Available Plans

Billing and Renewal

• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your Apple ID account will be charged upon confirmation of purchase and at the start of each renewal period
• Manage or cancel subscriptions at: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions

Free Trial

Where offered, free trials automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless canceled beforehand.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

7 PDF Reports (In-App Purchase)

Compliance Report PDFs are available as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase at $2.99 per report. Once purchased, a report is permanently available and can be restored through the "Restore Purchases" function within the App.

8 Intellectual Property

All original content in the App — including the App's name, logo, interface design, and code — is the property of Jairo Jose Carrizales Veracierta and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Vehicle data displayed in the App is sourced from NYC Open Data and is made available under the NYC Open Data Terms of Use.

9 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
• We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that data will be accurate or current
• We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App or reliance on data displayed within it
• Our total liability for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim

10 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Jairo Jose Carrizales Veracierta from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11 Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, at our sole discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

12 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of Mexico City, Mexico.

13 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
